# BonusBandit open datasets (2026-08-10)

Two datasets from [bonusbandit.win](https://bonusbandit.win), an independent, owner-operated
sweepstakes-casino accountability site. License: **CC BY 4.0** (free to use
with attribution). Figures re-derive from the source database on every site
build; this export is a snapshot as of 2026-08-10. For current numbers, always
check the live pages.

## What is in this directory

- `complaint-index.csv`, `payout-study-by-operator.csv`: the data.
- `manifest.json`: a SHA-256 and a byte size for every other file here, plus the
  version of each dataset in this release. Verify with
  `sha256sum -c` or `Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256`.
- `CITATION.cff` and `citation.bib`: the citation, ready for a reference manager.

Dataset versions in this release: complaint-index 1.0.0, payout-study 1.0.0. Versions are
major.minor.patch: adding a column without breaking an existing consumer bumps
the minor number, changing or removing a published column bumps the major, and
correcting a value while the shape stays put bumps the patch. The live pages
carry no checksum, deliberately: they are rebuilt on every deploy, so a hash
next to one would be wrong by the next build. A dated export never moves, which
is why the hashes live here. The live counterpart of this file is

## complaint-index.csv (118 operators)

The share of 1 and 2 star reviews in each operator's public Trustpilot review
distribution, computed arithmetically from the star counts (no model anywhere
in the number). Rows mirror the live page's publication floors: no share under
a 10-review base; latest snapshot per operator; failed fetches are absent, not
imputed. `themes` are labels applied to fetched review text against a fixed
vocabulary that includes positive labels. `active_penalty_points` are
trust-score points currently withheld by complaint penalties (documented legal
events or human editorial decisions; mined review signals alone never move a
score). A high share is reader sentiment, not proof an operator refuses to pay.

## payout-study-by-operator.csv

Per-operator aggregates from our first-hand payout study: real money deposited
on our own accounts, real redemption requests, and what actually arrived.
Delivered means we watched the money land; pending is not paid and is never
summed into delivered totals. Cancelled or rejected requests are reported as
declared failures, not folded into pending. Damaged rows that cannot be classified
are counted as incomplete and excluded from requested-attempt totals. Dollar totals
state how many delivered rows carried an amount, so a partial money total cannot
silently read as complete. Raw per-redemption rows stay private; these aggregates
use the same classifier as the live study.
