The verdict

Gold Rush City’s current site directs users to a kiosk to create an account. An Illinois Gaming Board letter demanded an Illinois block or removal of prize offerings; it does not establish a nationwide closure or a resolved enforcement outcome.

Score breakdown

No factor inputs have been approved by an editor yet. The published score is recomputed by the seven-factor formula from those inputs, not set by hand. What this means.

How this score is calculated

Total withheld: evidence gate not met.

Methodology v2 publishes a total only after redemption, Terms honesty, and at least two other factors are verified. Held, not applicable, and stale factors do not count.

The adjustments are formulas, not discretion. Methodology v2: applicable rules.

"Not yet scored" means we have not independently assessed this factor. Unscored factors are excluded from the weighted average; the calculation above shows how many factors contribute.

Gold Rush City: kiosk registration and an Illinois regulator letter

The current Gold Rush City homepage, checked September 8, 2026, directs visitors to get the app and visit a kiosk to create an account. That is a different entry route from a standard online signup form. We have not visited a kiosk or verified its current account-opening and redemption procedures.

The operator’s January 2025 launch announcement helps explain the model: Play City Group described using kiosks with Primero Games to bring retail gaming customers onto Gold Rush City. It also named GiG as the platform provider. These are the company’s partnership statements, not independent guarantees about consumer balances or payments.

Illinois sent a specific cease-and-desist demand

In its February 4, 2026 letter, the Illinois Gaming Board said it had observed the service offering Illinois users slots with cash, gift-card, or other prizes on January 14. The board said Gold Rush City lacked its authorization and demanded that it block Illinois residents or stop offering those prizes.

That is a documented regulator action, not just a negative player review. Its scope is Illinois. The letter alone does not show that the company subsequently complied, that every other jurisdiction reached the same conclusion, or that existing customers received their balances.

We have not verified a later resolution or tested geographic access.

  1. You send it. It is not public, and it is not evidence yet.
  2. A person reads it, usually within 48 hours. Nothing posts automatically.
  3. If it holds up we publish it with the community reports for Gold Rush City. Some reports get logged and never published.

No report changes the Trust Score. The score is computed from the seven factors, and a submission cannot move it. Community reports also stay separate from our first-hand tests, which are cashouts we paid for and recorded ourselves.
