How to read a state page

A status word is a summary. Each state page's evidence drawer shows the record underneath it: the source date, the last human review, the effective date and the basis of the classification. Source date is the most recent legal event we track for the state. Basis is derived from those events, from the cited authority where we have one, and from operator-reported exits only when nothing else is on record.

Where our database holds nothing, the row says Not recorded rather than leaving the gap for you to misread. Missing rows are gaps in our records, not findings about the law. The status panel shows the short form of a statute reference; the drawer carries the complete string as our database holds it, unedited.

Each event in a state's timeline says what kind of thing it was, because a bill that was filed, a law that passed and a date a restriction started are three different claims.

Operator counts on a state page come from the state records we hold for each operator. The drawer says how many of those records cite the operator's own terms, how many we inferred because the terms do not list the state, and how many come from our bulk backfill without a terms citation. On a state we classify as anything other than no tracked explicit prohibition, we never describe an operator as accepting its players.
