Iowa questions
Are sweepstakes casinos legal in Iowa?
State action limits how sweepstakes casinos can operate here. Authority: Iowa Code § 99F.4(13), as amended by SF 2289 Div. I § 4 (2026); underlying gambling prohibitions Iowa Code ch. 99F and § 725.7.
Can I still play free Gold Coin (GC) games in Iowa?
Iowa's action targets the dual-currency model: the Sweeps Coin (SC) side that can be redeemed for cash prizes. Free Gold Coin (GC) entertainment play, with no prize redemption, is generally not what these provisions prohibit. But many operators exclude Iowa entirely in their own terms rather than offer a GC-only mode.
