Mississippi Senate Bill 2104 proposed adding online, interactive, and computerized games to the state's gambling-device and wagering provisions. Its committee substitute expressly mentioned online sweepstakes casino-style games and proposed felony penalties, forfeiture provisions, and a July 1, 2026 effective date. The official history shows that the Senate passed the bill 52-0 on February 4, but it died in the House Gaming Committee on March 3, 2026.

That sequence prevents a serious copy error: the bill's bracketed additions are proposals, not current statutory language. SB 2104's online-sweepstakes wording did not amend the sections reproduced in the proposal. We also found no primary Mississippi Gaming Commission document supporting the repository seed's reference to March 2026 emergency regulations. This page therefore separates failed legislation and an unverified agency claim instead of blending them into one current restriction.

What the law says

Current law: betting or promoting betting on games of chance is a misdemeanor with a fine up to $500 and up to 90 days imprisonment if unpaid (§ 97-33-1); prohibited gambling devices are subject to seizure and destruction with no property right in them (§ 97-33-7(2)). Pending SB 2104 would make operating an online platform facilitating illegal wagering a felony: up to $100,000 fine and/or 10 years, with asset forfeiture and venue in Hinds County at the AG's discretion.
