What the law says
Current law: betting or promoting betting on games of chance is a misdemeanor with a fine up to $500 and up to 90 days imprisonment if unpaid (§ 97-33-1); prohibited gambling devices are subject to seizure and destruction with no property right in them (§ 97-33-7(2)). Pending SB 2104 would make operating an online platform facilitating illegal wagering a felony — up to $100,000 fine and/or 10 years, with asset forfeiture and venue in Hinds County at the AG's discretion.

Mississippi questions
Are sweepstakes casinos legal in Mississippi?
State action limits how sweepstakes casinos can operate here. Authority: Miss. Code Ann. §§ 97-33-1 (betting/gaming/wagering), 97-33-7 (gambling devices); SB 2104 (2026 RS, pending) would add online sweepstakes casino-style games.
Can I still play free Gold Coin (GC) games in Mississippi?
Mississippi's action targets the dual-currency model: the Sweeps Coin (SC) side that can be redeemed for cash prizes. Free Gold Coin (GC) entertainment play, with no prize redemption, is generally not what these provisions prohibit. But many operators exclude Mississippi entirely in their own terms rather than offer a GC-only mode.
